August 2015 -
Boat Ramp Repaired!!
Thomas Nixon and his Crew
performed some concrete magic:
Newly poured Concrete replaced broken, failing ramp.
Bottom end of the drainage culvert also repaired
Part of the repairs also included repairing
and aligning the side retaining walls
that keep the ramp safe from wave action.
Thank you to Thomas Nixon and Crew for this excellent work!
Also "Thank You" to our President - Brenda Burden for
her tireless efforts to get this job done!!

include a boulder sized rip-rap drain field and
a completely re-built approach deck to the pier.

It will to prevent erosion under the boat ramp.
The land end of the large pier was completely rebuilt.

NOTE:
All repairs with the exception of rebuilding of the
fishing platform at the end of the pier were
completed by volunteer labor!!!

July 22nd 2009:
Community Watch Organizational Meeting To Be Held
July 30th @ 6 PM (changed from 5 PM) at the Park Pavillion
Attending will be Committee Chairman Ron Decker and Sheriff's Deputy MacArthur as well as volunteer members of the newly forming Committee. All residents are welcome to attend. More Watch Volunteers are needed!
Boat Ramp Extended 12 FEET!
The boat ramp has been extended by the addition of three 12 foot by 4 foot concrete sections that were precast and then lowered and washed into place. The intent is to address the problem encountered by many members when launching or recovering boats whereby their trailer's wheels would run off the end of the ramp making it VERY difficult to pull the trailer or trailer/boat back out of the water! Note: Now there is a VERY sharp (10 feet) drop-off after the new "end of ramp"!
Second Annual CBRA July 4th Victuals and Fiddles (Food & Tunes) enjoyed by residents!
Although less folks turned out than last year (perhaps because it fell ON the 4th this year), the pulled pork by Kevin was excellent and musical requests were hopefully enjoyed by all.
Community Watch Program Launched!
Initiated by the Board of Directors and concerned residents with sponsorship by the Chowan County Sheriff's Department (special thanks to Deputy McArthur), the Chowan Beach Community Watch Program was launched in June 2009 with the planting of three Neighborhood Watch signs seen below:

The Fourth of July Weekend Picnic "A Success"

The Fourth of July Weekend Potluck with Music (actually held
Saturday, July 5th) at "The Park"
was enjoyed by many according to comments made by those who attended.
The "Association" provided fresh grilled hotdogs with chilli and hamburgers along with soft drinks and members donated some mighty tasty side dishes as well.
There were two Fifty-Fifty raffle winners each winning $ 25.00 and one of the winners donated her winnings back to the Association! I apologize that her name escapes me but I will gladly edit this page to credit her if someone will kindly email me her name.

JUST LIKE NEW!
Following the recent Board of Directors meeting, some of the Board Members volunteered to spruce up the main entrance gate to Chowan Beach. After a good power washing, the gate was painted with fresh white paint. Topsoil was hand mixed into the existing ground in front of the gate pillars and new shrubs and accent plants were planted and then mulched to give our entrance a fresh new look.
